Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is the process by which members of professions maintain, improve, and broaden their knowledge and skills, as well as develop the personal qualities required in their professional lives, typically through a variety of short and long training programs, some of which offer accreditation. All structured, systematic education and training activities in which people participate to receive knowledge and/or learn new skills for a present or future work are referred to as job-related continuous education and training. Some examples of CPD that could be part of teachers and trainers’ life could be:
    • courses/seminars attended in person
    • online courses/seminars
    • education conferences
    • formal qualification programmes
    • observation visits to other schools
    • observation visits to business premises, public organisations, or non- governmental organisations
    • peer and/or self-observation and coaching
    • participation in a network of teachers
    • reading professional literature
    • other types of professional development activities.

Share what your refelction about that.

i agree, trainers need to keep learning, though sometimes not all learning methods are equally effective. Stuff like formal courses and conferences can teach you a lot, but just watching other trainers without a “map” or reading might not be that efficient. It’s important to mix it up and find the right balance for your own growth as an educator.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is pivotal in nurturing a culture of lifelong learning, ensuring educators remain effective and their practices evolve alongside emerging educational trends. By engaging in varied CPD activities like peer coaching, online seminars, or observation visits, teachers not only enhance their own expertise, but foster a collaborative, forward-thinking educational community.

In the context of vocational education and training, CPD plays a crucial role in ensuring that educators and industry professionals stay up-to-date with advancements in their fields, pedagogical best practices, and emerging technologies. By actively participating in CPD activities, individuals can remain competitive, adaptable, and responsive to the evolving needs of learners and industries. And it is for these reasons that the GROOVE digital transformation training is so fundamental.
